Leana Sealy

Leana SEALY was born in Dublin (Ireland).
At the age of 12 she began her musical career by entering the saxophone class of
Guy Goethals at the “Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg”.

In 1996 she was awarded the gold medal at the “Concours national pour jeunes
solistes de l’UGDA” along with the prize of the “Radio socio-culturelle 100,7”.
After obtaining her secondary school diploma (Athénée de Luxembourg), she
decided to pursue her musical career at the “Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles”
(class of Alain Crepin).

In 1998 she received the “Prix Supérieur” in
saxophone and a year later the
“Prix Supérieur” in chamber music in Luxembourg, as well as the “1ier Prix” in
saxophone in Brussels.

With the “Prix Interrégional” in Besançon (F) in 2000, Leana Sealy concluded
her saxophone studies at the “Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg”.
In 2001 she obtained the “Prix Supérieur” in Jazz singing at the “Conservatoire
de la Ville de Luxembourg”(class of Guy Cabay) and also represented the
Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg at the “2
nd European Jazz-Festival” in Athens.
That same year she won 1
st prize at the “3ième Concours National pour Jeunes
Saxophonistes” in Dinant (B).

In 2003 she graduated from Brussels with a “Prix Supérieur” in saxophone and
later that year she enrolled in the saxophone class of Philippe Geiss at the
“Conservatoire National de Région de Strasbourg” in order to study
contemporary music.

As a singer and saxophonist Leana Sealy took part in numerous recordings and
live performances with notably Gast Waltzing (ProjectJ, Caravane 2000) Guy
Cabay, Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, Luxembourg Sinfonietta,
Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg, Jazz’appella, the rock group FrantiX,
Rundfunk-Blasorchester Leipzig, Estro Armonico and her own band, the “Leana
Sealy Quintet”.

In 2004 the “Leana Sealy Quintet” recorded and released their 1
st CD “On The
Street Where You Live”.

In 2005 Leana Sealy completed her studies at the “Conservatoire National de
Région de Strasbourg”, with a “Diplôme de Spécialisation”.
In 2006 Leana Sealy was a solo vocal performer with the “Orchestre
Philharmonique du Luxembourg” at “Pops at the Phil”.
In 2008 Leana was awarded the Banque de Luxembourg’s “Jazz Nights” Award
for Promising Talent.

In 2009 her new album “Undecided” was released on WPR Jazz.
In 2010 Leana Sealy was awarded the public prize at the “Festival des Saveurs
Culturelles du Monde” in Mondorf.

Currently Leana Sealy is a saxophone professor at the “Conservatoire de la Ville
de Luxembourg” as well as member of the “Quatuor de saxophones du
