Having been fascinated by all things percussion since a very young age, Luc Hemmer began his musical journey at the UGDA music school before continuing his education at the Conservatoire d’Esch-sur-Alzette under Paul Mootz and Serge Kettenmeyer. Subsequently, he developed his skills at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg with Emmanuel Séjourné, Stephan Fougeroux and Denis Riedinger. He graduated with a Diploma in Musical Studies in 2008 and a Diploma in Chamber Music Specialisation in 2009 with Philippe Geiss and Armand Angster. Finally, in 2013, Luc graduated at the Hochschule für Musik Saar with a Bachelor of Music under Thomas Keemss, followed by a Master of Music in 2016.

Since 2008, Luc has also been teaching percussion at the Ecole Régionale de Musique de la Ville de Dudelange.

On a creative and artistic level, Luc is member of Inverse Percussion Project, his percussion duo founded by Bernard Grodos and himself in 2015. He also has had ample opportunity to prove himself at numerous orchestras and ensembles in the vicinity of Luxembourg, notably with the Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg, the Estro Armonico, the Lucilin ensemble, the Opéra Royal de Wallonie and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège. Furthermore, he has gathered a lot of experience in the accompaniment of theatre productions when on several occasions, he was involved with the Rotondes, the Théâtre National du Luxembourg, the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg, the Théâtre Municipal de la Ville d’Esch-sur-Alzette and the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen, while working with stage directors the likes of Charles Muller and Frank Hoffmann.

In addition, Luc’s presence in the world of percussion – whether as a solo artist or as an ensemble musician - is distinguished by a large variety of styles which has enabled him to join percussion players of the highest international renown in concert, among whom are Emmanuel Séjourné, Bob Becker and Steven Schick.
